Future Focus is an encouraging, motivational program for decision-making, responsibility, and utilizing one's strengths.

Young people throughout Michigan and Wisconsin are gaining a new vision for themselves through Future Focus.  Future Focus takes participants on an interactive journey where they determine their goals and values, and establish their own decision-making principles based on key questions.

Future Focus provides them with tools they have never had before, as helpful aids towards a positive, motivational direction for their lives.

Future Focus is intended to be an asset to parents who want to provide their children the kind of motivational, aspirational content that helps them be their best -- starting with the decisions they are making right now.

Preventative Awareness Program: Elements & Extras

Letter to Me

Each student, prior to finishing the program, writes a letter to themselves for future encouragement and motivation.  The letter reflects on things like, "Is it worth it?" "In or out of your control?" and so on.

Love Languages

Future Focus offers students the opportunity to take the Love Languages for Teens test, from the book Love Languages for Teens by Gary Chapman.  This is a great tool to better understand our students, help them better understand themselves, and help them in the vital area of communication.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is a wonderful option to elaborate and tap into the creative mind.  Our class instructor will customize activities to the needs of each program.

Life Skills

Future Focus provides excellent practical tips and tools for:

  • Taking On Responsibility -- how to manage and maintain newfound independence

  • Learning How To Prepare -- with the guiding principle of "keep it simple" (sometimes less is more)

  • Needs and Wants -- how to determine the difference and get the best of both

  • Roadblocks -- dealing with unexpected situations

Walk the Walk

A signature tool of the Future Focus program, Walk the Walk is a two-mile hike taken at the end of each session.  Each student acknowledges and releases their burdens as they make their way along the journey.  Truly a profound and refreshing time!

After the walk, students read their mission statements and receive certificates of completion.  Parents as well as members of the court are welcome to be part of this final celebration.
